Overview

Colony is an open-source framework for Decentralized Autonomous Organisations (DAOs). Our tools allow communities to collectively manage money, make decisions, and get paid, without needing to trust each other.

We are one of the leading projects in a rapidly growing space. If you haven’t heard of DAOs yet, you will soon, and this is an opportunity to get in at the ground floor of what many predict to be the next major social technology.

Colony is a fully distributed team that occasionally (pandemics permitting 😷) convene somewhere in the world to work and hang out together. The rest of the time, we communicate over Discord. It’s a dynamic environment that requires grit, flexibility, self-motivation, and a sense of emoji etiquette.

The Comms Lead is a new role at Colony as we go to market with our best in class solution for DAO creation and operation.

The job will require both a solid technical understanding, the mastering of a broad range of communication channels and perhaps most importantly – creative writing skills.

The role is fully remote. European timezone is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the collective voice and narrative of Colony on Twitter, Medium, our blog, our website and in earned media.
  • Develop a distinct tone-of-voice for Colony that is tailored for each channel.
  • Develop an ambitious social and content plan that drives brand awareness, engagement and supports campaign and community activities.
  • Execute the social plan via a content calendar that is set up for both planned and ad hoc posts.
  • Run and organically grow our Twitter account.
  • Create best-in-class long-format content for Medium and our blog.
  • Create PR stories for both crypto native media and beyond.
  • Produce website copywriting that is both well-written and technically accurate.
  • Promote our Collectively Intelligent podcast.
  • Be the go-to-guy/gal for any other copywriting briefs from marketing, product, business or community leads.

To succeed you need to:

  • Have a solid understanding of blockchain technology, and the surrounding concepts and communities.
  • Have several years of relevant experience in copywriting, content production, journalism, or similar roles that involve creative writing in a commercial context.
  • Have an intimate understanding of the merits of each outbound channel and be able to craft content that engages and inspires.
  • Have a basic understanding of blockchain technology and be able to master both technicalities and high-level concepts of Colony’s offering.
  • Be a great storyteller.
  • Be able to connect with a tough Twitter crowd.
  • Be able to adapt your writing style from witty to formal, from verbose to succinct.
  • Be able to handle brutally honest feedback even if it means a total rewrite.
  • Be a great collaborator in a team setting.
  • Do your own proofreading.

It’s a plus if:

  • You’re a sharp-witted person.
  • You can churn out killer headlines.

What we offer:

  • 100% remote (you should be in UTC-8 to UTC+4)

  • Open, friendly, non-hierarchical culture with no politics focussed on doing excellent work on something truly meaningful
  • Laptop policy (we contribute 50% towards you buying your own machine)
  • Flexible working (we care about output not hours)
