About The Role:

As a well-funded international team, Pagoda is in need of a seasoned Controller to help take the Controllership maturity to the next level. We are looking for an experienced, innovative, empathetic, and productive Corporate Finance Controller who is excited about building the next generation of crypto startups, feels comfortable with challenging opinions, and most importantly who shares with us the same desire to give control of the web back to the users.

This key role on Pagoda’s Finance team will report directly to the CFO and lead Pagoda’s Accounting functions, Controls & Compliance, A/P, A/R, Procure-to-Pay, Payroll & Benefits, Cash Flow, Financial Statements, Treasury Management, and Tax.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assist the CFO in the planning and coordination of all accounting functions within the company.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team on Finance related projects.
  • Align with Legal and HR on related needs
  • Receive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements under company policies and procedures.
  • Research, understand, document, and implement crypto related accounting, best practices, and controls.
  • Ensure that the accounting filing system is accurately maintained and kept organized.
  • Receive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements under company policies and procedures.
  • Effectively recruit, train, and manage future staff accountants on the team and hold them accountable for completing their assigned duties and following procedures.
  • Conduct or coordinate company accounts and financial transactions audits to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes.
  • Responsible for Annual Federal & State tax reporting
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand and assist in the generation of financial goals.
  • Gather necessary information for external auditors and assist as needed.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Evaluate timely cash flow analysis.
  • Monitor bank account activity and verify that bank reconciliations were completed properly.
  • Track crypto currency income and spend and log accordingly.
  • Assess and record applicable timely accruals.
  • Assist Executive Leadership in the annual budget process and implementation.
  • Working with Executive Leadership to analyze and revise departmental policies/procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Corporate Accounting: Ideally 10+ Years Experience
  • Controller: Ideally 5+ Years Experience
  • Current CPA Certification Required
  • Practical training or experience in a CPA firm is beneficial
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or related field is a must.
  • Master’s Degree Preferred
  • Strong capabilities in Excel, QuickBooks, ADP, and other Accounting/HR software.
  • Knowledge of NetSuite implementation a plus
  • Authorized to Work in the US

  • Familiarity with and willingness to learn US regulations and applicable legislation, specifically for cryptocurrency.
  • Experience and comfort working in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.

  • Possess good judgment, organization, and planning skills
  • Willingness to wear multiple hats and cross collaborate with the rest of the team when needed.

Here’s What Our Interview Process Looks Like:

Depending on calendar availability, from the first stage to the final stage, we do our best to keep the entire process to under three weeks. Our interviews take place via Zoom and typically consists of the following stages:

  • Internal Recruiter Call (30 minutes)
  • Meet with the Hiring Manager (45 minutes)
  • Technical Interviews (3 x 60 minutes)
  • Pagoda Values Interview (30 to 45 minutes)

This role is fully remote but must be based in the United States. Greater Seattle Area preferred but not required.
